Children's Outreach

Sri Lanka

Purpose

At the BUD centre, everyone has a friend, and everyone is a friend. The community centre in rural Sri Lanka exists to build friendships with Buddhist neighbours and provide blessing to the surrounding community. Laying a strong foundation for the future of the children in this community is summed up in the motto: train up a child in the way he should go. After school activities at the BUD Centre include informal learning opportunities such as sports, foundational life skills, homework support, moral character lessons and art classes.

Skills

Experience with children's ministry and community outreach is needed. Education in children's ministry an asset. Personal initiative, creativity, an ability to build friendships, work with children and provide an inclusive environment is needed.
