Four-year terms and two-year terms (based on role)
Shared funding via partnership development. Campus ministry is a missional priority for Mission Canada, the national mission agency of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (the employer).

2-YEAR TERM CAMPUS MINISTRY ASSOCIATE

We are searching for a Campus Missionary to support the Campus Ministry Lead in strengthening an established missional and discipling community on campus. They would provide pastoral care to University students, encourage growth and maturity in discipleship to Jesus, participate in effective outreach and service to the campus, contribute to community building events and develop new initiatives as needed.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

HEALTH: Spiritual care of students and the campus ministry.
  • Support the facilitation of an on-campus weekly worship gathering.
  • Opportunities to preach and teach at the worship gathering.
  • Provide pastoral care to university students.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Participate in regional and national staff team meetings.
DEVELOPMENT: Training and equipping student leaders to make disciples of Jesus.
  • Support the Campus Ministry Lead in empowering a student leadership team to lead the on-campus club.
  • Mentor, train, and disciple student leaders.
  • Oversee and provide resourcing for student-led bible study groups (Core Groups).
MULTIPLICATION: Coordinate missional and discipleship focused ministry programs.
  • Support the Campus Ministry Lead in inspiring and releasing student leaders to facilitate on-campus outreach and serving initiatives (e.g. Alpha, Outreach Tabling, Red Frogs program, etc).
  • Support the Team lead in organizing a local student retreat and participation in the regional Emerge retreat.
  • Develop and maintain a prayer and financial support team of individuals and local churches who can fund salary and campus ministry expenses.

4-year term Campus Ministry Lead (i.e. Director)

We are searching for a Campus Missionary to give direction to and strengthen an established missional and discipling community on UCM campuses. They would lead a leadership team of student volunteers, with the future potential of recruiting and managing a multi-staff team. They would provide pastoral care to University students, encourage growth and maturity in discipleship to Jesus, participate in effective outreach and service to the campus, contribute to community building events and develop new initiatives as needed.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

HEALTH: Spiritual care of students and the campus ministry.
  • Oversee and facilitate an on-campus weekly worship gathering or large group event.
  • Preach and teach regularly at the worship gathering or schedule guest speakers.
  • Provide pastoral care to university students and staff.
  • Oversee the financial budget of the campus ministry, in consultation with the UCM Regional Coordinator (responsible to the Mission Canada Director).
  • Build and maintain a local advisory board and participate in regional and national lead team meetings.
DEVELOPMENT: Training and equipping student leaders to make disciples of Jesus.
  • Develop and empower a student leadership team to lead the on-campus club.
  • Mentor, train, and disciple student leaders.
  • Oversee and provide resourcing for student-led bible study groups.
MULTIPLICATION: Coordinate missional and discipleship focused ministry programs.
  • Provide vision and accountability to an annual ministry plan, in cooperation with the student leadership.
  • Inspire and release student leaders to facilitate on-campus outreach and serving initiatives (e.g. Alpha, Outreach Tabling, Red Frogs program, Food Drives, etc).
  • Coordinate participation in the regional Emerge retreat and developing a local student retreat.
  • Develop and maintain a prayer and financial support team of individuals and local churches who can fund salary and campus ministry expenses.
  • Promote campus ministry by relating to or sharing at local and PAOC churches in the area.

University of Victoria (UVIC), Victoria, BC.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Representative of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom: Must have a strong commitment to Christian faith and service* and demonstrate by word and action a lifestyle that aligns with Biblical principles of integrity and purity. Must agree to abide by the Minister’s Code of Ethics and the PAOC Statement of Essential Truths.
    *The PAOC, as the employer, is a special interest organization that serves people of a specific religious community.
  2. PAOC Credential: Must hold a PAOC ministry credential or be willing to obtain one for the purpose of this ministry role prior to deployment.
  3. Campus Experience: A knowledge and understanding of post-secondary campus environments is necessary. An ability to gain trust and respect in a new community. Cultural sensitivity and an ability to connect and interact with international students on campus. A post-secondary degree is essential (university, college, Bible college, or seminary).
  4. Ministry Experience: An enterprising and resourceful leader who is willing to network and develop contacts. Fruitful campus ministry experience is required. Ability to listen, learn, strategize, collaborate, and follow through on the recognized needs of students on campus.
  5. Independent and Collaborative: Must be skilled at working independently in their campus environment, but with accountability and collaboration to the UCM Regional Coordinator, the National Coordinator for PAOC Campus Ministries and the PAOC Mission Canada Director and office.
  6. Fundraising Ability: Must have a demonstrated ability to raise an approved annual budget via partnership development, or a willingness to learn. Mission Canada workers, as and just like PAOC mission workers overseas, are responsible to raise the necessary financial support for their mission efforts and project funds. Partnership development (fundraising training) is provided during the candidacy stage. Financial support must be raised prior to being released for employment on campus.
  7. Canadian Citizenship: A Mission Canada applicant for a worker role must be a Canadian citizen or have Canadian permanent residency.

COMPENSATION:

Full-time role, 40 hours per week. Certain times of the school year may require additional workload (e.g. orientation week, retreats, special events, etc.).

SALARY:

As a PAOC Mission Canada worker, the salary for this role is raised by the worker through personal fundraising. UCM provides fundraising training and has a track record of long-term success for its employees’ funding. An annual budget is developed and agreed to between the Mission Canada Director and the worker, including salary commensurate to the role.
