LOCATION: Japan
OUR TRANSFORMATIONAL IMPACT: Our vision is to develop meaningful relationships with Japanese children and young adults within the Tohoku Region, in order to share the love of Jesus with them, as well as mentor new missionaries for long-term ministry in Japan.
OUR MINISTRY FOCUS: Despite its technological advances and connectivity to the world, Japan remains one of the least reached nations. Sadly, only about 1% of the country are considered followers of Jesus. There is also only one missionary per 63,000 people.
Our primary ministry focus will be young adults and children. We will be working with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) to run discipleship programs while partnering with local ministries to grow the ministry within the Tohoku Region.
I (Miranda) will continue my leadership and administrative work with YWAM’s six-month Discipleship Training School. I will also continue using music as a way of building relationship with students through music lessons, leading worship, and writing faith-based music in Japanese.
Both of us will work with a local children’s ministry to help run their preschool programs and help the children to practice English.
OUR MINISTRY HISTORY: Over the years, I (Miranda) have served in various ministry capacities over the years. I also participated in multiple short-term missions’ trips to such places as Ukraine, Rwanda, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music & Public Relations (minoring in Bible). I (Lanique) have served in youth ministry for 13 years. I studied business and then went on to obtain a Certificate in Youth Ministry at Vanguard College. I have also served on STM trips in Canada, the U.S. and Japan. I (Miranda) have served in Japan for two years and recently returned to Canada to marry Lanique. We are excited to return to Japan to serve together!
PRAYER REQUESTS:
For God to convict and work in the lives of more Japanese people to know that He can be their God, too, and not just for those in the West.
For God to continue helping us to reach the Japanese in ways that resonate with them and for Him to send more workers to Japan.
For God to help us learn the language swiftly and immerse us fully in the culture.
