Location: Southeast Asia

My Vision: I believe God is calling me to invest long-term in Southeast Asia, partnering with the local Church to disciple young leaders and share the hope of Jesus in places where the gospel is rarely heard.

Ministry Focus: After completing a mid-term internship in a sensitive context in Southeast Asia last year, Marissa felt a deep sense of calling to return. This summer, God has opened the door for her to go back on a short-term trip, where she will partner with local believers to run a Vacation Bible School and two one-week English camps for children and youth in remote communities. Together, their goal is to encourage these young people, help them discover their God-given purpose, and equip them with tools to grow in their English language skills.

Ministry History: I grew up in a Christian home, but in recent years, my love for the Lord and passion for cross-cultural ministry has grown deeply. After working as a Registered Dental Hygienist for two years, I felt God calling me to leave my profession and prepare for missions. Since enrolling at Vanguard Bible College, I’ve sought opportunities to grow in ministry and leadership—serving with NNNetwork through ESL tutoring and discipleship of Syrian refugees, and helping lead small groups and events for young adults at my local church. I’ve also participated in short-term missions to the Northwest Territories, Ethiopia, and Los Angeles. Through this overseas internship, I hope to continue developing my calling and grow in Christ-like character and confidence to minister in an Asian context.

Prayer Requests:

• Pray that the Lord will powerfully use these camps to further the discipleship of the children and youth of these communities.
• Pray for wise preparation of the programs and God’s help and presence as she travels and volunteers with the programs.
• Pray for the Holy Spirit to foster peace, love, and good relationships/communication in the teams.
