LOCATION: Philippines
TRANSFORMATIONAL IMPACT: Our vision is to not only care for but also disciple the students attending Faith Academy, partnering with their parents as they minister in restricted access countries throughout Southeast Asia.
MINISTRY FOCUS: An international school for mainly children of missionaries and pastors, Faith Academy has over 500 students. The children come from 24 different countries, creating an enriching and yet diverse atmosphere for all.
As dorm parents, we minister to on average 13-15 boys, ranging from Grades 8-12, at one time. We care for every aspect of who they are just like their parents would—their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. We’re there to provide their meals, drive them to appointments, plan weekend outings, lend a listening ear, and offer counsel/discipline them. One major outing we do every so often is take the boys, along with our own children, to visit a home that rescues children from human trafficking.
Above all, we lead them through regular devotional times with the desire to raise up the next generation of pastors, missionaries, and Christian leaders. Through this role, we support the boys’ parents who serve as global workers in such countries as Sri Lanka, China, Bangladesh, South Korea, and the Philippines.
YOUR IMPACT: You will help global workers all over Southeast Asia minister in some of the darkest places while their children remain under our loving care.
MINISTRY HISTORY: After both of us experienced various short-term mission trips as individuals, we sensed the call to go into full-time missions as a couple in 2005. For the next 17 years, we ministered to university students, led a small fellowship, and cared for orphans in Asia. We now continue serving young people here in the Philippines, alongside of our three precious children: Hezekiah, Josiah, and Hannah.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
-
For God to help our dorm boys to grow deeper in their faith and submit to the God-ordained authority over them.
-
For God to protect various pastors and even parents of some of our dorm boys who are being persecuted for their faith in Jesus.
-
For God to give our children the strength and determination to continue succeeding at their studies as they follow Him with all their hearts.
