Rev. David Wells

Dave Wells has served as general superintendent of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC) since May 2008. He was appointed general superintendent at General Conference 2008. The PAOC has over 1,200 affiliated churches, satellites and church plants, 3,700 credentialed ministers and a constituency of close to 270,000 people across Canada. Internationally, the organization has close to 300 global workers serving in more than 50 nations.

Dave serves as the vice-chair of the Pentecostal World Fellowship. President of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches of North America and on the executive of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship. He served on the board of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada from 1999-2013 and served as chair of that board from 2007-2013.

Dave completed his undergraduate studies in theology at Vanguard College in Edmonton, Alberta, and has a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Briercrest Seminary, Saskatchewan. In May 2013, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by McMaster Divinity College and in April 2014, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Briercrest College and Seminary.

Dave previously served as the district superintendent of the BC/Yukon District from 2001-2008, and as senior associate pastor at Broadway Church in Vancouver, BC from 1994 to 1999, as well as pastoring in Hamilton, Ontario, Calgary, Alberta, and Red Deer, Alberta. He has also held district and national departmental leadership roles.

Dave has served as a Canadian chaplain at six Olympic Games, two Pan Am Games, and six Commonwealth Games. He chaired or served on the multi-faith committees which organized chaplaincy at Olympic and Paralympic Games, Pan Am and Parapan Am Games and the Invictus Games Toronto 2017. He has also served on the executive boards that coordinated the Christian community for service at the Vancouver 2010 and Toronto 2015 Games. In 2025, he was awarded the King Charles Coronation Medal and was cited as a respected leader who interacts and serves people of multiple faiths and backgrounds with equal dignity and care, and as one who provides a consistent voice opposed to racism and faith-based animosity.

Dave and his wife, Susan, live in Burlington, Ontario. They have three children—Shannon (Eric), Jonathan (Melissa) and Jordan (Justine)—and eight grandchildren, one of whom is in heaven.
