This is Good News! A Story about a Back-to-School Bash hosted by City Point Church

Our movie theatre church will be five years old in mid-September 2021. Like most churches, for the last year and a half we've either met strictly online or in a hybrid model, and it has been tough to do outreach events. Apart from running an Alpha course online, we wanted to run our Back-to-School Bash again even with the uncertainty of provincial restrictions, etc. This has been a great event for us that we have run annually since our pre-launch, with the exception of last year, 2020.

It was so exciting to see how with only a paid Facebook advertisement and no printed invitations that we were able to fill 200 spots with online pre-registration. Most of the families who registered had never attended our church previously! In fact, they didn't even know we existed. Many of the families were from totally different religious backgrounds than Christianity.

Our Back-to-School Bash gave us the opportunity to bless families as we handed out almost 100 school bags, filled with school supplies. Our event included movie theatre popcorn and other great snacks. We invited a gospel illusionist to come and share the good news of the gospel in a way that captured the attention of everyone watching. This event gives us the opportunity to now follow up with so many families, inviting them to church and to other events we will be doing going forward.

Our volunteers were excited and served so well. Even with following all the necessary health protocols and having to wear masks, it was an incredible event that allowed us to share the good news of Jesus with many who may have never heard the gospel shared previously. We had tremendous financial support from our friends at Church on the Queensway in Toronto, Ontario, so it really was special to actually see this event take place even at the beginning of the so-called "fourth wave" of COVID-19 here in the province of Quebec.

We are thankful to God for His protection, His provision and for every opportunity we have to share Jesus with those who need to hear. We are already looking forward to our 2022 Back-to-School Bash!
