CANADA & THE UNITED STATES
Praise God that the forest fire causing destruction in Red Lake, Ontario, is now under control and evacuees are returning to their homes. But wildfires are causing destruction and have now prompted the evacuation of thousands of people in British Columbia and California, where several people have died. Pray that God will pour rain upon these areas so that the fires will be brought under control and that He will protect and strengthen the firefighters and first responders. Pray also that God will comfort and encourage the people in the affected areas, and that He will guide and provide for evacuated residents.
PRIORITY ONE
Pray for the 35+ workers who are being deployed this year through Priority One. Praise God that this is a record number of workers to date, even more significant in a season of COVID-19. Pray that the Holy Spirit will empower them to fulfil the work God has called them to. Pray for their families as they make this significant transition, and for their health and safety as they prepare to begin their ministry. Visit paoc.org/missions/priorityone to learn more about the new workers.
BEIRUT
Please continue to pray for the people in Beirut who are recovering from the major explosion that occurred on Tuesday August 4, which left at least 180 dead, 6,000 wounded and 300,000 people homeless. Pray that God will comfort those in the affected areas, whether they have been injured, lost family and friends, or lost their homes. ERDO will be responding with Fida International, the humanitarian arm of the Pentecostal church in Finland, by providing emergency food kits to people who were most affected by the blast. WORLDWIDE
Pray continually for God to intervene in the spread of COVID-19, which has infected more than 23,311,715, and killed nearly 806,415 people around the world.1 Pray for healing for those infected, and comfort for those who have lost loved ones. Ask God to strengthen and protect frontline and essential workers and to grant peace to their families who are concerned for them. Pray that, as many countries begin to ease restrictions, their economies will respond well and new infections will be limited. Pray for extra protection for people in developing countries who are already malnourished and more vulnerable to this disease. Pray also for the hundreds of PAOC global workers who have remained in the country of their calling, serving their communities and displaying the love of Christ throughout this global pandemic.
