On May 20, Cyclone Amphan struck Bangladesh and India with wind speeds of greater than 130 km/h. More than 90 people were killed, hundreds of thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed, and more than one million people did not have electricity. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes, crops have been destroyed, and flooding is rampant throughout the affected areas. Pray that God will guide the rescue teams as they search for more victims and that aid supplies will get to where they are needed. Pray that God will comfort those in the affected areas, whether they have been injured, lost family and friends, or lost their homes. Pray also that people will turn to Christ for peace and encouragement following this devastation.

May God pour out His Spirit in a vibrant and powerful way as Christians around the world celebrate Pentecost Sunday on May 31. Pray that people will be strengthened and filled by the Spirit with fresh power, vision, passion and ability to reach their communities for Christ. Pray also that they will grow in their understanding of the Word, in their relationship with God, and in their relationships with one another.

Pray for the upcoming Empowered21 Global Congress Online, the largest gathering of Spirit-empowered leaders, that is being held from May 31 to June 10. Pray that everyone involved will be encouraged, equipped and receive clarity from the Holy Spirit on how to make a major spiritual impact on the world during this unprecedented time. Pray for wisdom and guidance about what next steps leaders should be making as they prepare for the future. Pray also for the speakers and music artists as they prepare in the coming days.

Please continue to pray for God to intervene and for there to be a stop to the spread of COVID-19, which has infected almost 5,490,000, and killed more than 349,000 people around the world.1 Pray for healing for those infected with the coronavirus, and comfort for those whose loved ones have passed away. May God continually strengthen and protect frontline and essential workers. Pray that, as many countries are easing some restrictions, their economies will respond well, and a second wave of the virus will not occur. Pray also for protection for people in developing countries who are already malnourished, and vulnerable to this disease.
