IRAN

A plane crashed in Tehran on Wednesday (January 8), which killed 176 people, including 57 Canadians. It was determined that Iran had accidentally fired a missile at it, after mistakenly thinking it was a hostile target. May God grant comfort to everyone impacted, especially those who have lost friends and family. Pray for peace in that region, and around the world following this event. Pray for opportunities for the gospel to spread, so that many people will find comfort and hope in Christ in the aftermath of this tragedy.

ZIMBABWE

Zimbabwe is facing a life-threatening food crisis. UN officials state the country is on the brink of starvation. More than half of the population has little or no access to food. 90% of children under two-years-old are below weight and do not have enough to eat. ERDO is responding with emergency food. Pray that everyone in Zimbabwe will receive the nourishment needed, and for ERDO as they seek to help those who are hungry. Pray that God would bless the area with rain, and for lasting peace in this region. Pray also that more people will turn to the Lord and care for each other as a community.

WESTERN ONTARIO DISTRICT

Pray for the pastors who will be attending the “Next Gen Time Out” Retreat from January 12 to 14, and the “Young Pastors’ Time Out” Retreat from January 14 to 16 at Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, Ontario. May they feel spiritually refreshed and ministered to through the encouraging time of connecting with one another, and receiving inspiration from God through what they learn from the speakers. Pray that the Holy Spirit will speak to them and give them a renewed vision on how to reach their communities for Christ. Pray also that all of the pastors and their families will make great memories as they participate in this time together.

BRITISH COLUMBIA & YUKON DISTRICT

Pray for all of the university and college students who will be attending the Emerge Retreat at Camp Squeah in Hope, BC, from January 17 to 19, 2020. Ask God to inspire and encourage them as they connect with one another and with Him. May they have fun, build deeper relationships, and may their souls feel spiritually revitalized through this weekend. Pray also for the speakers and musical worship team as they prepare for their time together.
