MENA Celebration of the Spirit in Amman Hosts Meeting with Christians from More Than 15 Nations

AMMAN, Jordan – Empowered21 held the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) Celebration of the Spirit at the New Life Church in Amman, Jordan. This took place May 15-16 and was a powerful time of teaching, prayer and worship with approximately 1,000 Christians from more than 15 nations. A global line up of Spirit-empowered leaders ministered to the attendees.

“We were deeply thankful to the Lord for our time together with Christian believers from Jordan and around the region,” said William M. Wilson, Empwered21 president and global co-chair. “Despite all of the turmoil of these collective countries, God is doing a great work through many ministers and denominations leaning on the power of the Holy Spirit. The teaching and prayer from the world leaders that came to Jordan are seeds that I believe will bear great fruit for the future. There is great hope for the MENA region and for Jordan.”

The host pastor for the event was Dikran Salbashian of the New Life Church in Amman. Each of the three main services were at the full capacity of the church with many attendees watching via simulcast in the lobby. The closing session including a special prayer for God’s work in MENA and, led by Wilson, a time for the conference speakers to pray for the ministers and people in attendance for God’s blessing on their lives. There were many believers in the region also watching the services via YouTube live streaming. A youth service with more than 200 was held on Saturday night at the West Amman Baptist Church. That session was closed with a two and a half hour prayer meeting with the youth that were there.

Speakers for the event included Cindy Jacobs, founder of Generals International; Daniel Kolenda, president of Christ for All Nations; Stephen Mills, missions pastor of the Lighthouse Church in Kuwait; David Wells, general superintendent of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada; Wilson, who is also the president of Oral Roberts University; and George Wood, global co-chair of Empowered21, general superintendent for the Assemblies of God USA, and chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship.

These meetings were held in anticipation of the upcoming global congress in Jerusalem, Israel Israel, May 20-25 at the Jerusalem Pais Arena. Registration and live streaming of the event can be found at Jerusalem2015.com.
