Whistler, BC is a destination mountain resort town which played host to the 2010 Winter Olympics and boasts over three million visiting tourists every year. With only 10,000 permanent residents and very little Christian presence, our Mission Canada worker in Whistler has engaged in faithful witness of Christ among their neighbours, in the marketplace, and by launching multiple touch-points for ministry among both locals and tourists. From weddings and funerals to baptisms and church plants, having a strong spiritual presence in Whistler is so needed. There are many opportunities for discipleship, outreach, mentoring, pastoral care, prayer, and worship in a community where the world comes for recreation and rest.
The Mission Canada purpose in Whistler is to create a Christ-centred, Whistler-appropriate rhythm for life and faith. Having a missional presence in this community provides for a daily opportunity to live among and invite others into a wide-open, spacious, and hospitable Christian spirituality.
