Ministry Location: Cobourg, ON
Ministry Focus: Urban Ministry
Being a beacon of hope to our marginalized friends living within the core of Cobourg, ON, Leigh-Ann's heart is to be so filled with the Spirit that it bubbles out onto everyone she encounters, pouring out love onto all people. Unemployment, food insecurity and people experiencing homelessness continue to be an area of great need within many urban centres. Our vulnerable populations are often faced with additional challenges of unresolved trauma, addictive behaviours and mental health challenges that contribute to a cycle of hopelessness.
Leigh-Ann desires to build kingdom relationships with those who not only need to hear God's word, but also need to see it in action. Her heart is moved by what Jesus says in Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (ESV). As new friendships are forged and trust is built, opportunities abound to share the message of hope found in the person of Jesus Christ.
It is her desire to be a positive and supportive connection point between the local church, the extended community of Cobourg and those who may be experiencing homelessness within the urban core. It has been encouraging to see how God has opened doors and prepared the way for this new season in Cobourg. As friendships grow, Leigh-Ann is able to serve and support those who need an open heart, listening ear and helping hand. It is her joy and blessing to assist our marginalized community in their daily life, helping those in need access resources that are available to them, much like being a bridge builder.
It is through intentionally and purposefully engaging those who do not yet fully comprehend the love of a Father that Leigh-Ann reflects God's love and extend arms of care and compassion to those in need. Simple acts of caring kindness cause hearts to open to so much more than just meeting material needs. She is so thankful that God has chosen to use her as His hands and feet, providing for His people the very basics of life every day. It is through these tangible acts of obedience and care that the heart of God is seen, felt and experienced. What beautiful and transformational moments those are!
As she walk in this missional calling that the Lord has placed before her the promise found in Isaiah 40:31, "those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength," sings in her heart and drives the hope and light she has to share from her own experience of His faithfulness.
