MISSION CANADA CAMPUS ASSISTANT
Ministry Location: Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo, BC
Ministry Focus: Campus Ministry
Julie, originally from Rwanda, graduated from Vancouver Island University (VIU) in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, specializing in Microbiology. During her time as a student, University Christian Ministries (UCM) became her home away from home, a place where she grew in her relationship with Jesus, built meaningful friendships, and discovered the joy of serving God and others.
After graduating, she felt called to continue serving students through campus ministry. What she initially thought would be a one-year commitment that began in 2023 when she joined as a Campus Ministry Assistant, has now continued on three years later. She is still here—deeply grateful for all the Lord has done and expectant for what He has in store.
One of Julie's greatest joy is seeing students encounter Jesus, growing deeper in their relationship with Him, and discover what it means to follow Him in every area of life, led by the Holy Spirit. She finds it a great privilege to walk alongside students during their formative years, sharing the love of Christ through discipleship, prayer, worship, and community.
Whether for one more season or many more to come, Julie remains grateful for the opportunity to serve and open to wherever the Lord leads next.
