Location: Kenya, Africa
Ministry Focus: John and Georgina are heading to Kijabe, Kenya, to serve at Rift Valley Academy (RVA). RVA is a boarding school run by Global Workers (missionaries), providing education for MKs (Missionary Kids), children from ex-pats, volunteers at the two hospitals next to RVA, and Kenyan students. About 500 students attend. This is the first Global Worker assignment for both of them. Georgina will be assisting Christine Feser, who is overseeing the travel and immigration for the students and about 120 Global Workers who are serving at RVA. With the constant COVID-19 rule changes by just about every country in the world; this is a daunting task. John has not been assigned a position as such. After a long career as an accountant at a school district, John indicated he is ready to try something else. We’ll keep you posted. Both Georgina and John are looking to make an impact at RVA, encouraging students and staff to shine forth His light and to add some humour to the mix.
Ministry History: Georgina has been involved with the Friendship Class for 28 years. Friendship Class is a
weekly meeting to teach Mentally Handicapped People about Jesus. A suitable curriculum is used to reach this group. It has proven to be a very fruitful ministry. Georgina has also been an advocate for the Mentally Handicapped since 1983. John has been in charge of some Bible Studies for quit a few years, and was active to encourage people. Many long term friendships came out of this ministry. John and Georgina’s home was always open to young people, and they were able to be a good influence and role model to these young people. For many years, they were also active in a Healing Room in Spokane, WA; Georgina as an administrator and John as part of a team.
Prayer Requests:
- To keep RVA COVID-free.
- More volunteers to join RVA.
- For an effective and fruitful ministry.
