Location: Angola, Africa
Ministry Focus: Aimee works at a rural mission centre called Fazenda Tchincombe, about 4 hours from Lubango, Angola. This ministry is a comprehensive outreach to the a “least reached” people-group called the Mungambwe. Tchincombe operates from a “business-as-mission” model and provides employment and humanitarian support while sharing the gospel. Aimee brings her innovative and creative outlook to her work directing the horse branch of the farm industry which she started nine years ago. During the next six month posting, she will be launching a trail-ride safari business as a new industry for the ministry centre in order to combat the economic downturn and provide more employment opportunities. Each person employed by Tchincombe means opportunities, not just to provide their whole family with education and healthcare, but to introduce them to Jesus and walk with them in the journey of Christian discipleship.
Ministry History: Aimee grew up in Angola while her parents were serving with Mission Aviation Fellowship and then moved back to Canada for high school and post-secondary education. She has now been working with the Mungambwe Tribe in Angola for more than 8 years and considers it her second home. When Fazenda Tchincombe was started in the 1980’s there was no evangelical church presence in that area. Now today, Tchincombe has a clinic, an airstrip, a school, adult literacy programs, youth and children programs, adult discipleship groups, and a healthy village church that is actively involved with three other church-plant locations! It employs about 50 people full-time and boasts a population of between 300-400 inhabitants. The goal is to provide Mungambwe men with much-needed skills training and employment, and then to support the whole family on a journey to physical, financial, and most importantly, spiritual health!
- For supernatural creativity and wisdom as I launch this new horse safari business and endeavour to have it running smoothly within six months.
- For comfort and courage as I work far in the bush in relative isolation and loneliness.
- For Angolan church members and ministry partners to experience a growing awareness of and openness to the precious Holy Spirit's moving.
- For spiritual fruit! That I would not be merely "busy", but strategically effective! Pray that I will carefully follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, and please pray forcefully against spiritual attack. We are deep in the enemy's territory and are taking new ground for Christ!
