LOCATION: Western Europe & Eurasia
TRANSFORMATIONAL IMPACT: Our vision is to bring the gospel to 40,000+ English-speaking residents in Basel, Switzerland, while also partnering with other international churches to help evangelize more of Western Europe.
MINISTRY FOCUS: While many people are culturally Christian in this part of Western Europe, they aren’t practicing Christians and see little reason for knowing Jesus. Sadly, Switzerland is no exception and very much needs more of an evangelical witness.
In response to this, we currently reside in Basel, Switzerland, pastoring Crossroads International Church. Our main goal is to reach the 40,000 English speakers living within the city. Our church consists of over 50 nationalities of mainly transient expatriates and their families from all over the world, in addition to Swiss residents. This creates a unique setting since so many cultures and even denominational perspectives make up our church culture. We seek to create an ethos that speaks to this type of lifestyle. We’re also aware many in our congregation may move within 2-4 years of being with us.
We also partner with various non-profits and other church networks to meet the needs of “international churches” such as ours. We hold conferences at our church and help disciple and train leaders within the broader church context in Western Europe.
YOUR IMPACT: You will help to re-evangelize those living within Basel, Switzerland, who have largely given up on Christianity and those who have recently rekindled their Christian faith, coming to an understanding of who Jesus truly is.
MINISTRY HISTORY: Since 2007, we’ve been serving as global workers, first in Baku, Azerbaijan, and now in Basel. I (David) was a mission volunteer in Zambia before becoming a pastor in 1993. I have a Master of Divinity from Tyndale Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I (Rhonda) am a primary school teacher and have taught in Hong Kong, Canada, Azerbaijan, and now Switzerland. We have four adult children all living in Canada: Michaella (Jeremy), Marissa, Erin, and Jacob.
- For God to bring more global workers to the region and bring about spiritual awakening in Western Europe.
- For God to help us find a larger space for our ever-growing ministries.
- For God to care for our children back in Canada and to keep us healthy and strong.
