Week oF FEBRUARY 20, 2017

KENYA, SOMALIA, ETHIOPIA, SOUTH SUDAN

A shortage of rain from October to December 2016 has led to a drought in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia, and famine being declared in two regions of South Sudan. Fifteen million people are facing food and water shortages and the next rainfall is not expected until March to May, with rains possibly being below average. Please pray that God will bless the area with lots of rain and that aid supplies will reach the areas of greatest need, especially aid from ERDO, which will provide food assistance through their partners. Pray for lasting peace and security in these regions, and that God will encourage and guide the PAOC global workers who reside and minister there.

Ilya & Janet Bantseev

RUSSIA

Pray that God will bless Ilya and Janet with many opportunities to minister and that multitudes of Russians will come to know the Lord. Pray that God will raise up church planters across Russia. Pray also for God's favour with authorities despite opposition to the gospel.

LIBYA

Please pray that God will comfort the friends and families of the 74 migrants who drowned on Monday (February 20) while escaping Libya, an increasingly popular trafficking route to Europe for migrants fleeing poverty and war throughout Africa. January alone saw 228 recorded deaths, by far the biggest monthly toll in recent years. The total death toll this year is now 365. More than 180,000 people made the crossing last year, an increase of 17 per cent from 2015. Pray that God will bring peace and stability to Libya and that leaders will work together to end conflict and poverty throughout this region.

Thomas & Laura Fodor

BRAZIL

Praise God that Laura, who was hospitalized two weeks ago, is getting better and demonstrating signs of a complete recovery. Pray that God will continue to restore Laura’s health and encourage her, Tom and their family.
