Call to Prayer - Fires in Fort McMurray, Alberta

Dear ministry colleagues,

We are urging you to pray and intercede on behalf of the people of Fort McMurray.

As you may or may not know, a wildfire fuelled by soaring temperatures and a tinder-dry forest is causing extensive damage to the area and triggering a large-scale evacuation.

Pastor Edwin Rideout, lead pastor of Family Christian Centre in Fort McMurray, has indicated that the situation necessitates passionate prayer for divine protection for both people and property. Also, he has noted that the fire is nearing their church.

As a fellowship of believers, we trust in the power of unified prayer. Please take time to lift up the city and people of Fort McMurray to our Heavenly Father.

Pray that:

  • God would comfort those who are afraid and have suffered loss.
  • The first responders and workers who are assisting in the relief would be brave and remain safe. Also that they would be used as an expression of God's love to those they meet.
  • There would be safety for those being evacuated.
  • God would intervene in a mighty way to bring an end to the destruction.

"Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honour Me."(Psalm 50:15 NASB)
