Rev. Charles Yates, former executive officer at the International Office of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, has gone to be with the Lord. Rev. Yates served as general secretary from 1975 to 1992.
General Superintendent, Dave Wells, expressed deep gratitude for Brother Yates’ life of ministry excellence and integrity. “Charles Yates was a model of character and leadership to me from my early years of ministry in Alberta. I loved to have opportunities to visit with him and his gracious wife, Eileen.”
A full update from the Eastern Ontario District follows.
Dear Friends,
Rev. Charles Yates passed into the presence of the Lord on Friday March 28, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. He was in his 88th year. Charles and Eileen immigrated from England in 1958 and pastored Beddington Pentecostal in Calgary (formerly Capitol Hill). He was then elected district superintendent for the Alberta NWT District in 1959 and served as DS for 16 years until his election in 1975 as assistant superintendent and general secretary for The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Brother Yates served the Fellowship in this capacity for another 18 years until his first “retirement” in 1993. He then transitioned to be minister of pastoral care at Agincourt Pentecostal Church and also served in a number of interim pastorates in EOD. Charles was pre-deceased by Eileen in July 2004.
