LOCATION: Guinea, West Africa
TRANSFORMATIONAL IMPACT: Our vision is to make disciples by working alongside various churches and ministries throughout Guinea, in order to care for people’s physical and spiritual well-being.
MINISTRY FOCUS: More than 87% of Guineans don’t have access to the gospel in their own language and culture. Sadly, 55% of adults can’t read or write a simple paragraph. Moreover, 85% of childhood deaths are from diarrhea, respiratory diseases, malaria, and perinatal issues.
In response to these needs, we’re helping to mobilize national teams, in partnership with the Alleluia churches, to bring the gospel especially to the Malinke people groups of Eastern Guinea. Due to the high lack of literacy, we support 15 Christian schools, as well as providing the only radio station in Guinea with Christian content. We also make available audio New Testaments on SD memory cards in most of the national languages of Guinea.
We are thrilled to be building a paediatric clinic in a very needy area of Conakry, the capital of Guinea. We also are involved with a wonderful home for abandoned children. Above all, we work to equip Guinean Christians through teaching/preaching, consulting, evangelism and discipleship initiatives, and seminars.
YOUR IMPACT: You will help bring a holistic gospel to many Guineans, through a variety of ministries, to save lives now and for eternity.
MINISTRY HISTORY: Son of veteran PAOC missionaries Arn and Elsie Bowler, I (Phil) grew up in Kenya and Uganda, answering the call to full-time service as a young man. After marrying, we welcomed our sons Mathias and David into our family. We then were appointed as PAOC global workers in 2002. After 15 years of fruitful ministry in Dakar, Senegal, in 2018, we relocated to Conakry, Guinea.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
-
For God to use Guinean Christians to reach the Malinke people of Eastern Guinea for Christ.
-
For God to bring new workers to come and serve here, including a clinical administrator for the paediatric clinic.
-
For God to provide for our safety and health since traffic is crazy and medical care is very limited.
