Ministry Focus: Romania has been working hard to close their large, institutional orphanages over the last number of years, but despite the hard work, there are still almost 50,000 children in state care. TJ and Sarah believe that God’s plan for children without a family is still a family. Their central ministry will be focused on three areas surrounding the issue of abandoned children: 1) Prevention – working with families to prevent abandonment in the first place. 2) Advocating for children in need of a family 3) Providing support and training to families who take children into adoption or foster care.
Ministry History: TJ and Sarah have attended Southside Worship Centre in Ajax, ON since 1999. Sarah volunteered for several years in children’s ministry, and in 2017 stepped into the role of children’s pastor. She has a one-year certificate from Master’s Bible College and is seeking to obtain her full diploma in the coming years. TJ has served on the board of deacons for many years and has a call on his life to be a father to the fatherless. He has been fulfilling this call by helping in the children’s ministry at their local church. Together, the Laplante’s sensed God leading them to something different and have been following God’s calling over the last several years. They are excited to be starting this new leg of their journey with God.
