Purpose
Bingham Academy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is seeking an experienced leader to serve as School Director and guide the school to achieve excellence in academic programs (K–12) and Christian education. Bingham Academy’s goal is to prepare students to impact the world for God’s glory.
The director of the school is responsible for providing quality Christian education within a multicultural community. This role involves shaping and implementing the school’s strategic plan, including capital development, while providing strong leadership for approximately 140 expatriate and Ethiopian staff and ensuring the well-being of both staff and students. With a clear vision for excellence in Christian education, the director prioritizes the spiritual formation of students through exceptional programs and a positive school culture.
Skills
The Director will manage a complex organization through a leadership team, coordinating strategic planning with the Bingham Academy Board (BAB) and SIM Ethiopia while ensuring that all programs align with the school’s mission and long-term goals.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing effective staff recruitment and retention strategies, fostering strong relationships with the local community, and integrating a biblical worldview into the curriculum, student culture, and teaching practices. The director also ensures a collaborative and inclusive environment within the Bingham Academy community, strengthening relationships across cultures, genders, and age groups.
In addition to educational leadership, the director oversees financial planning, budgeting, campus development, and fundraising efforts to support the school's long-term sustainability. They work closely with the BAB to construct an annual budget and develop strategies for enhancing services and infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is an evangelical Christian in good standing with their local church, holds a master’s degree in an educational discipline, and has at least two years of experience in school leadership. Please enquire for a more detailed job description.
Support
The school will provide a partial financial support package, including accommodation and utilities, free tuition for school-aged children attending Bingham Academy, and a fund for professional development. The remainder of the financial support will be raised by the candidate through his or her sending mission organization.
