Discipleship Team Leader

Purpose
There is a need for a discipleship team leader in West Africa to work with believers from an Islamic background. The aim would be to foster a supportive and nurturing environment for spiritual growth and transformation. By providing personalized mentoring, this person or couple would seek to guide individuals on their faith journey, helping them to understand and embrace Christian teachings within a culturally sensitive framework. This role involves building deep, trusting relationships, encouraging communal worship and study, and equipping new believers with the tools and knowledge needed to live out their faith authentically. The ultimate goal is to cultivate a resilient and growing community of believers who can, in turn, share their newfound faith with others, thus creating a ripple effect of spiritual renewal throughout the region.

Deep theological knowledge and strong teaching abilities are essential for effectively communicating Christian doctrines and guiding new believers in their faith journey. Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of Islamic beliefs and practices are crucial for building respectful and trusting relationships with those from a Muslim background. Proficiency in French is necessary and a willingness to learn another local language would greatly enhance communication and engagement. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills are necessary to mentor and support team members, fostering a cohesive and resilient discipleship community. Additionally, patience, adaptability, and resilience are vital, diverse challenges in a dynamic environment will be encountered requiring a compassionate and steadfast approach.
