Giving Tuesday: Bring Judah Ostermayer Home

Dear friends,

Today, on Giving Tuesday, we at Mission Global invite you to stand with our global workers, Tyler and Alexis Ostermayer, their daughter, River, and new baby Judah. Tyler and Alexis serve in the nation of Ethiopia, having impact across North Africa.

While traveling to Asia on a ministry assignment, their journey was interrupted when Alexis went into unexpected preterm labour. On August 23, at just 24 weeks gestation, tiny Judah Tyler Ostermayer was born in Singapore.

We have already seen God do miracles in these very difficult circumstances. Judah is alive and developing well in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Singapore – slowly gaining weight and overcoming preemie challenges. Members of our Mission Global family were able to be there in person within hours of Judah’s birth to support the family. The fact that he was born in Singapore, which has world class health care, is nothing short of the hand of God.

Now, we are believing for a financial miracle because the costs are astronomical. In our PAOC Missions history, we have never had a situation like this. Our medical insurance has maxed out. To assist Tyler and Alexis, the hospital set up a crowdfunding account where Singaporean donations have been made. The Singaporean church has rallied around this young family with housing, food, and prayer. Tyler and Alexis’ family have been able to support them and Mission Global has been able to help with costs and other support. But there is so much more to do.

Our hope is to bring Judah home to Edmonton in the new year, where he can continue his recovery surrounded by family, community, and be covered under our Canadian healthcare system. This can only happen once Judah is medically stable and safe to travel; he has a long journey ahead.

We need to raise $400,000 CAD to support Judah in the NICU and then bring him home. This will ensure continued medical care for Judah in Singapore until he is released for a medically safe evacuation home, likely in mid-January. The great news is that every gift will be matched up to the first $125,000. We are blessed to have this matching gift as we tackle this significant need together.

Will you help us by PRAYING:

  • for strength and healing for Judah
  • for peace and endurance for Tyler, Alexis, and little River
  • for provision and wisdom for the medical and logistical journey ahead

Will you help us by GIVING:

  • To the costs for the months ahead. Donate HERE to the Ostermayer Care Fund.

Together, let’s surround this family with tangible love and support. Let’s bring Judah home!
