Global Day of Prayer & Fasting for COVID-19 (March 29)

The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, the World Evangelical Alliance and several other Christian ministries are inviting individual Canadians and church congregations to participate in a Global Day of Prayer and Fasting, as part of a worldwide response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 29.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower;

Exalt the Lord God of hosts, who has called the body of Christ to be His witnesses and servants, whom He has chosen to know and believe Him, understanding He is God—there is no other! He has all authority in heaven and on earth, and He will do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or imagine (Isaiah 43:10; Matthew 28:18; Ephesians 3:20).

Believe and proclaim prayer will unite and remind us that we are greater than the hardships we face because greater is He that is in us (Psalm 133; John 17; 1 John 4:4).

Be thankful for the protective armor of salvation and blood of Jesus, who protects us, so we may have boldness to stand, serve, bless, and witness to those around us. Pray we will be free of fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from those quarantined, while we continue to experience His peace beyond comprehension (Ephesians 6:10–18; Revelation 12:11; Malachi 1:11; Philippians 4:6–7)

Pray for courageous first responders, medical personnel, health officials, and researchers who are on the front lines, responding to those in need and seeking to create a vaccine and antidotes to combat this virus. May they be sheltered by the Almighty and granted supernatural wisdom and understanding (Ruth 2:12; James 1:5, 17; 3:17). Also pray for their families during this intense season.

Intercede also for God to grant wisdom to governmental and church leaders (global, national, local, and all levels) that they will be servants who take appropriate actions to protect those they serve (Matthew 20:26; Romans 13:1–4; 1 Timothy 2:1–2).

Pray with compassion for those who have already been impacted by COVID-19 through illness and loss of family/friends, but also ask God to protect and heal those who are more susceptible to infection—elderly and others with chronic health conditions—as He grants physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing (Isaiah 53:5; Luke 4:40; 5:15).

Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to intervene and bring provision for those who have been impacted financially from this interruption through His supplying for all their needs according to His riches in glory, so that everyone’s hearts will be turned to Him in both repentance and thanksgiving (Philippians 4:19; James 5:16).

We pray for the Father’s name to be revealed that He might be revered and ultimately received as Lord according to His word, asking Him to give his Son the nations as His inheritance (Isaiah 65:1; Psalm 2:8).

Obey Christ’s command to pray for the Lord of the harvest to send workers to send workers into His harvest field, so people may be redeemed from destruction and crowned with His lovingkindness (Mathew 9:37–38; Psalm 103:4–6).

Continue to pray and believe that every Jesus follower will be a visible demonstration of Great Commandment love as we fulfill the Great Commission to be witnesses—using media TV, Radio, Web, Social Media, etc. sharing Christ in the crisis and beyond (Matthew 22:37–40; 28:19–20).

Thank God for being our source of hope and filling us completely with joy and peace as we trust in Him and experience the blessings written in His Word (Romans 15:13; Numbers 6:24–26; Psalm 91).
