CANADA SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM

Pray that God will continue to guide churches, Christian ministries and organizations across Canada as they apply for the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program grants in time for the upcoming February 2 deadline. Pray that God will grant His favour throughout the process and that they will all be approved. Pray that religious freedom in Canada would be both respected and protected, and that God will intervene on our behalf.

ADAM GILFILLAN

As a Mission Canada worker desiring to impact the next generation of Canada’s youth, Adam’s heart is to engage with students on high school campuses across our nation. Adam is addressing the topic of "creating community" in today's culture, and his passion is equipping students to live life with purpose and destiny. Pray that he will be continually strengthened in his relationship with God and that he will be granted creative avenues and favour with students and schools to be able to share his message and help Canadian youth to find genuine connections with others, and hope for their future.

MYANMAR

Beginning in late August 2017, at least 688,000 Rohingya Muslims fled to Bangladesh after a government crackdown was started by the Myanmar military in response to insurgent raids. Myanmar and Bangladesh agreed earlier this month to complete voluntary repatriation of refugees within two years, starting on January 23, 2018. But many challenges remain unresolved. Many refugees are afraid to return unless their security is guaranteed, and their homes, schools, and places of worship have been destroyed. Pray that the government of Myanmar will be well prepared for those who return, with arrangements and concessions in place that are agreeable to both sides. Pray also that aid supplies—including food and clean water from ERDO, who is partnering with Rev. Philip Adhikary and the Pentecostal Assemblies of Bangladesh (PAOB)—will continue to reach the people with the greatest need.

HORN OF AFRICA

Pray for the millions of people who face food and water shortages as the rainfall for this time of year is typically below average in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Pray that God will bless these areas with lots of rain and that aid supplies will reach the areas of greatest need, especially aid from ERDO, which provides food assistance and supports livelihoods and education through their partners. Pray for lasting peace and security in these regions, and that God will encourage and guide the PAOC global workers who reside and minister there.
