Latin America – Guyana
Ministry Focus: The rate if suicide among young men in Guyana is among the highest is the world, focused especially within the indigenous communities. Young people are looking for reasons to have hope in their future, but the lack of which leads to despair. By teaching job training, life skills, and mentoring in the context of trade schools, we are working to help young people find employment and hope.
By teaching trade skills in machining and manufacturing I will be supplementing the current automotive training facility set up by Amar Ram near an indigenous village outside of Georgetown, Guyana.
Ministry History: I am a self-employed Tool and Die Maker. I attended Bible college in my youth and been an active member of my Church which included various short term overseas mission trips. I saw communities that received a lot of outside help but had no way of getting themselves out of poverty due to lack of local work and industry. I recognized in Guyana the potential to change that. Outside investment in the oil industry is growing, but the place lacks the skilled labour to meet the needs. As someone with experience and willingness to teach, I can help bridge that gap and offer hope.
Prayer Requests:
Pray that we find sponsors or funding to equip a fully functioning machine shop, enabling my host Global Workers, Amar & Nadi Ram, and their local church to expand their capacity to provide practical job-skills training, mentorship, and discipleship for at-risk youth
