Region: Japan
Vision statement: My heart’s desire is to introduce people in the Land of the Rising Sun to the Risen Son by building genuine relationships and sharing the Gospel in ways that are culturally meaningful and clearly understood. There are many in Japan who’ve never heard the Gospel in a way they can understand - or met a Christian at all, but I’m working on changing that.
Ministry focus: The main focus is relationship-based outreach. I work in cooperation with a local church which has opened doors for women’s ministry, Gospel‑music outreach, and even teaching Japanese Sign Language as a bridge for community connection. I thrive in relationship‑based ministry, hospitality, prayer and organic discipleship that grows naturally through everyday conversations, music, and shared life experiences.
Outside of direct church activities, I do some gardening, attend other Shuwa sign language circles , do some prayer-walking in pre-churched towns, participate in the leadership team for JET Christian Fellowship and use various interests as springboards to connect with people.
Ministry History: I have a background in Applied Linguistics and originally went to Japan to teach English with the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Programme. I have spent approximately 22 of the past 26½ years living and serving in Japan in a variety of ministry roles. When my previous missions organization dissolved, PAOC emerged as the right fit to provide the support needed to continue this ministry in Japan.
Growing up in Canada, I was deeply involved in camp ministry and served in local churches through youth and children’s programs, as well as on church praise teams in several communities. At the age of 15, I learned that many people in Japan had never heard the Gospel, and that realization profoundly shaped the direction of my life—ultimately leading me here.
Prayer Requests:
1) Divine revelation for people in Japan to understand that Jesus is THE Way and not just A way.
2) For Holy Spirit to move and empower and guide believers here in Japan to live fully in Him and share the Gospel with others.
3) More workers for the harvest field and especially people who can go to towns in Japan that don’t have churches yet.
