Location: Asia, Japan
Vision statement: My vision is to faithfully communicate the love of Christ and the gospel of salvation to the Japanese people, partnering with God in His redemptive work in Japan.
Ministry Focus: I will be serving as a volunteer with a local Japanese church, supporting their efforts to care for their congregation and extend the love of Christ to non-believers in their community. My desire is to come alongside their ministry team—learning from their cultural context while contributing where I can—and to use my past ministry experience to strengthen and encourage the church as they disciple believers and engage those who have yet to hear the gospel. Through practical service, relational outreach, and a willingness to support the needs of the church, I hope to play a small role in advancing God’s work in Japan.
I have travelled twice to Japan in the 1980s and have had a passion for the country, the people, the culture, and the language since then. I studied Japanese language at the University of Alberta, and I am currently engaged in self-study using high-school level textbooks to recover the knowledge of the language I had learned.
Ministry History: I retired from full-time work in 2024 and am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Theology at Prairie College. During my studies, I sensed the Lord stirring my heart toward a new season of calling—one that would allow me to use my education, life experience, and faith to serve Him in missions. As I prayed and sought His direction, Japan increasingly became the place where I felt God leading me to invest in ministry and participate in His work.
For the past seven years, I have served on the Pastor’s Advisory Council at my home church, New Hope Pentecostal Fellowship in Olds, Alberta, while also contributing in various behind-the-scenes ministries, including sound and media, kitchen service, and occasional preaching. Prior to this, I was involved for nearly a decade at Cornerstone Mountain Assembly in Grande Cache, Alberta, where I served in sound & media, a season on the church board, and assisting in children’s ministry.
Prayer Requests:
Pray for open hearts among the Japanese people, that they would be receptive to the hope and love of Christ.
Pray for continued progress in language learning, enabling effective communication and connection with those I serve.
Pray for sustained health and strength throughout my time in Japan.
Pray that God will open doors, creating opportunities for meaningful ministry.
