Ministry Focus: The Full Gospel Assemblies of Thailand is the organization birthed by the PAOC. Cavell's ministry is intertwined with the FGAT, whether it is as part of the leadership development, church planting, or as a support and sounding board for the denominational leadership. Since she has been appointed as the Facilitator for the PAOC in its relationships with the FGAT, most of her time this term is in meetings with individuals and with committees. With a fast growing Christian population, (4 times the rate of the population growth) in a nation with 0.6% Protestant Christians, the FGAT has focused on developing leaders for the churches and creatively plant churches in the growing urban areas.
Ministry History: Cavell has been a missionary to Thailand since 1977 when she began as a Teacher of Missionary children. She has since had opportunities to teach English as a Foreign language; network with other Pentecostal groups in developing a 6-level, 3-year curriculum for ages 2 through 18, train teachers for ministry in the churches, teach and act as Academic Dean at Thailand Pentecostal Seminary, and work alongside the Full Gospel Assemblies of Thailand in developing women's and children's ministries. One of her greatest joys is coming alongside former students who have vision and passion in growing the church in Thailand through creative ministries. Because of her longevity in the country, many local educational districts have asked for her to advise on developing English departments in Thai schools. Opportunities beyond! Presently she facilitates between the PAOC missionaries and the FGAT ministries. One of the greatest needs expressed is Christian native English speakers who can bridge between the churches into the schools and into the communities. Cavell has raised two Thai children and is now grandmother to four. Her son's tragic death in 2015 has given birth to a new ministry, "Weaving Love," for moms with infants. This is a safe haven for newly widowed moms and their fatherless children to pick up the threads of their lives and enable them to be part of a loving community which will give Christian support.
Prayer Requests:
- Pray for labours... people who will come and help gather in the harvest... mentors to the new converts and to the long term leaders.
- Native English speakers who would be willing to give themselves to help a generation practice communicating in English.
- Funds to supplement the training of first generation Christians to become the leaders of the Church.
- New ministries being birthed in communities.
