MISSION CANADA URBAN WORKER
Ministry Location: Montréal, QC
Ministry Focus: Urban Ministry
Montréal is one of Canada’s most influential cultural centers being the third-largest hub for film production in the country with a thriving and distinct francophone television and theatre scene. In 2023, Québec’s audiovisual industry reached a production value of $3.2 billion with 21,000 artists calling Montréal home and 91,000 all combined working in the arts and cultural sector. Beyond mere numbers lies a creative community that powerfully shapes culture, identity, and worldview in both Anglophone and Francophone cultures.
Having had many opportunities to share her faith through performance, writing, and acting, Samira understands the influence of story telling. Following the Lord’s leading, she has joined PAOC Mission Canada to serve as a missionary within the urban sector of Montréal’s English and French film and theatre industries.
Many artists are spiritually open yet searching for identity and truth in an environment that often dismisses Jesus. Samira’s mission is to build authentic relationships and share the hope of the gospel through conversation, fellowship, and creative collaboration. By living out her faith in professional spaces, she seeks to demonstrate that following Christ and pursuing artistic calling are not at odds, but can be beautifully intertwined. She is also passionate about cultivating community among Christian artists aimed to encourage, disciple, and equip them to live out their faith in their artistic field. Just as God revealed Himself through creation and Jesus taught through stories, the gospel moves powerfully through art. The mission field is not only overseas, it is also here, backstage, on set, and in rehearsal rooms. Montréal’s creative industry needs salt, light, and is ready for harvest.
