Matthew 18:5 “Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”
Ministry Focus: Kevin and Leann minister to the people in Slovakia through discipleship, training, and encouragement to those who volunteer and lead children and families to Jesus.
They believe it is important to bridge the gap between church and home in the spiritual formation of children. Using everyday practical items to teach biblical truths and foundations of the faith, they help families become households who declare, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”.
In Slovakia there are no paid Children’s Ministry Pastors or paid staff, so everyone helping in Children’s Ministries volunteer their time. Their hope and prayer is that they can be an encouragement to them, give them resources to help them with their needs and to train them in creative ways to teach children the good news of Jesus Christ.
Ministry History: In their 35 years of marriage, Kevin and Leann have supported and volunteered in the local church. Kevin’s activities included the technical aspect of tutoring volunteers and producing live worship and camp services. He also has trade skills in carpentry and automotive repair and maintenance. Kevin is a professional pilot in law enforcement and a tremendous support to Leann’s ministry, Handle with Care.
Leann’s desire for spiritual formation has been able to help children, youth and adults encounter Jesus as she led Children’s Ministries in the local church, directed kid’s camps, and served as the Children’s Ministry Specialist for the ABNWT District overseeing 130 churches in church vitalization and leadership development. She is a certified coach with International Network of Children’s Ministry and as the founder of Handle with Care Ministries, she provides training, support and care to those on the front lines of children’s ministry.
Prayer Requests:
- Open Minds - Pray for creativity. We never change the message of the gospel but the approach to different cultures and how they will receive the message needs to be adaptable.
- Open Hearts – Pray for acceptance. Wherever we go, we need prayer for the people who will hear the message not just with their physical ears but their heart ears and accept the truth of God’s Word.
- Open Doors – Pray for opportunities. We want to be led by Holy Spirit to the places He is asking us to go. We need the doors to open to countries and for details of who He wants us to disciple and encourage and arrangements for gatherings.
