The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC) has been a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) since 2003. We work in the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program and directly with our PAOC local churches (known as approved "Constituent Groups") and their appointed refugee resettlement teams within their local church.
Through our partnership with IRCC as a SAH, each year we receive a designated number of allocations from IRCC to sponsor individuals and families identified through our local churches - dear people who are in need of resettlement due to the persecution they have faced, and the need to flee their homeland.
We seek to respond in times of global crisis, and have seen God work in amazing ways through the PSR program as local churches stepped forward to resettle families displaces during the Syrian and Iraqi crisis and the Afghan war that made news headlines in the second half of 2021. This work in these parts of the globe remains ongoing as some families are still waiting to connect with a church who would sponsor them, and others are waiting on their final application approvals. We also resettle those from other nations who have faced persecution and have had to flee for safety as a result.
We welcome your involvement and also your financial support as we work with our PAOC churches in identifying and resettling persecuted families around the globe. Many have been part of underground churches where they could not publicly declare their faith. So many have had to flee with just the clothes on their back, leaving all they owned behind (if it had not already been destroyed). Most have known torture, threats on their life, and persecution for their faith. Others have come to faith in Jesus while seeking temporary refugee in another country, hoping that a solution for a better life would become a reality.
We welcome you to pray along with us. Hundreds of individuals and families have been resettled to Canada through the PAOC's work in the PSR program over the years. Your support, prayers, and financial donations allows us to do what we do in bringing people to safety and helping them find hope and resettlement to Canada. Lifelong friendships form as relationships and trust are built. As the PAOC family, we respond with compassion and care in resettling refugees...because we must.
If you are a PAOC church that would like to consider getting involved in refugee resettlement, please email us at missioncanada@paoc.org for more details as to the process and what if involved.
