As a Mission Canada worker, Braden is on a mission to spread the transformative message of the gospel right in the heart of the urban centre of West Edmonton Mall.
Why in the Mall? The West Edmonton Mall, with a staggering 24,000 employees and an astounding 31 million annual visitors, is the marketplace of today. Just as Jesus, His disciples, and missionary evangelists like Paul, Silas, Timothy, Barnabas and more, walked the marketplaces of Jerusalem and all over so much of the Roman Empire, so, too, Braden has already been following in their footsteps, meeting people exactly where they are since 2022.
What is Braden's aim? The crowds in the mall are an entire demographic unfamiliar with the concepts of church, faith, or the gospel itself. He's driven by the Holy Spirit’s desire to witness individuals in the marketplace encountering the living God. Braden's focus is clear: Reaching out to those with little to no familiarity with the Christian faith, including a significant number of East Asian youth, where the mall serves as the first place they encounter the concept of God.
Why the Chapel? Partnering with the West Edmonton Mall Chapel, Braden spearheads youth outreach and drop-in programs. The Chapel is the landing and launching place for ministry in the Mall. The primary aim is to usher in a new generation of young people to encounter the love and truth embodied in Jesus Christ. Through these programs at the Chapel, Braden has made a significant impact, touching the lives of countless young individuals with the life-changing message of the gospel.
Why join Braden? There’s an African proverbs that illustrates this well: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Braden isn’t on a sprint or short-term journey; he’s in it for the long haul. And God is calling out from among His people those who will go together with Braden faithfully in prayer, and also in monthly support. Will you stand with Braden shining the light of the gospel in this contemporary temple of commercialism?
