“Teach the wise, and they will be wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn more. Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in understanding. Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.” Proverbs 9:9-12 (NLT)

SAGE is an aromatic herb that is revered for its culinary and medicinal value. A sage is also a person who embodies the qualities of wisdom and understanding. At a deeper linguistic level lies a pleasant surprise: the Latin root words have a variety of meanings. The word sage means “to taste,” “to know, be wise,” and “to save.” Human beings can taste and know the deep things of God, be seasoned with the wisdom of God and saved by the grace of God.

We are pleased to offer our sages an innovative forum for their ideas, insights and impressions gained from a lifetime of experience. SAGE is a fresh voice to declare the stories that must be shared with younger generations. It provides a platform for biblical principles and practices. SAGE is a robust multi-generational approach to sharing Godly wisdom to meet the challenge of living full and free as followers of Jesus.

Those who are wise are eager to take instruction from someone who knows a little more about a subject than themselves. They are lifelong learners, always devouring, keeping sharp and adding to their life tool kit. Their wisdom is evident. As Proverbs 9:10 (NLT) confirms, “The fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment”.

This subscription-based magazine of the PAOC is a resource from Mission Canada, produced quarterly. It is designed to strengthen those who are seasoned followers of Christ, and to develop a younger generation to be faith-filled followers as they journey with the Lord, learning from His Word and from those living in their ‘wisdom years’.
