Location: Vanuatu
Ministry Focus: Our desire is to be able to build a permanent multipurpose centre, to serve as the location that will house not only a church, but also a gym, community centre, banquet hall, and cyclone shelter. The building will be to serve the mission of International Christian Church to be an outbound, sending church that builds God’s kingdom.
With her husband now in the presence of Jesus, Julie’s mission is to complete the church building, which was a long-term goal that the couple was working toward together. The multipurpose centre is needed immediately for a number of major reasons listed below:
1. OUR TENT IS QUICKLY COMING TO THE END OF ITS LIFE
With the tent beginning to show its age and break down in the heat of the South Pacific sun, a permanent multipurpose centre has become a pressing need for Sunday church and all other ministries.
2. OUR MINISTRIES ARE NUMERICALLY EXPANDING
Sunday services are at capacity. Youth and children’s ministries have grown significantly, and all this growth is showing no signs of stopping any time soon. The multipurpose centre would serve these vital ministries to continue their outreach.
3. CYCLONES AND EARTHQUAKES ARE REGULAR OCCURRENCES
Vanuatu experiences cyclones, earthquakes, and other natural disasters regularly; and while most of these events are predicted with ample warning to facilitate evacuation, some are not. The multi-centre would provide the local community with an instantly accessible facility that would provide refuge in these natural disasters.
The contractor overseeing the project attends the church and is providing much of the material at cost or greatly reduced prices. He has not yet charged the church for any labour. In addition, the congregation works very hard to help with labour and materials, having given diligently toward the project. The church has never had any debt; they are excellent stewards with what the Lord provides.
Funds Raised to Date: Approximately $225,000 | Funding Goal: $250,000
We have almost reached our goal to raise $250,000 to help to complete the partially finished building. We are so thankful for the faithful provision of God, and the faithful giving of the God's people! With the fresh infusion of funds, the construction work has begun again, and our hope is that the grand opening for the church will be in April or May, 2023.
Thank you for partnering with us! God bless you as you join us in this adventure.
