MISSION CANADA CAMPUS APPRENTICE
Ministry Location: University of British Columbia
Ministry Focus: Campus Ministry
Kylie spent the last year volunteering for University Christian Ministries (UCM) to fulfill her practicum requirements for her chaplaincy program. During that year her love grew for the community of students, and she started to explore if God was calling her to campus ministry long term. After much prayer and counsel from her mentors, Kylie joined the Campus Ministry Apprenticeship program. For the next nine months, she will be involved in one-on-one mentoring with female students and leadership within the club, outreach, small groups, retreats, and other events and initiatives that may arise throughout the year. She is excited to invest full-time to the community and see how God moves on campus.
Kylie recently graduated from Associated Canadian Theological Schools Seminaries with her Masters in Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care. She wants to use the gentle and quiet nature the Lord has given her to show the love of Jesus to a world that is lonely and hurting. God has used her struggles with depression to increase her compassion and understanding for mental health issues that have become an epidemic, especially among young people. She wants students at the University of British Columbia (UBC) to know they are not alone and show the light of Jesus in that darkness.
In her free time, Kylie plays floor hockey in various leagues alongside her sister and has recently got back into running. She also enjoys crafting, whether it's scrapbooking or making a card. She additionally finds joy in writing and performing spoken word poetry.
