Job Description

Fort Smith Pentecostal Church is located in the town of Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, just north of the 60th parallel which serves as the border between the territory and province of Alberta. It is a unique town that is the gateway to Wood Buffalo National Park, the largest national park in Canada and a UNESCO site, as well as the largest Dark Skies preserve in the world. With a population of 2500, that booms with an additional 500 temporary workers, Fort Smith is a vibrant small town with a rich Indigenous history, as well as a mosaic of other peoples and cultures. Fort Smith Pentecostal Church (FSPC) is a growing multi-generational and multi-cultural local church that invites all to belong in faith community, believe in the restorative and redeeming power of Jesus and become a committed and growing follower of Him. Our church is a disciple making community that seeks to be a people of presence in our town and a Kingdom people that are agents of transformation. We are looking for applicants who love people, have a strong work ethic, are teachable and have a spirit of adventure to experience Canada’s North. This is a 12-week paid position starting June 3, 2019 and concluding August 23, 2019. Summer Program’s Coordinator—Youth & Adults Responsibilities include, but not limited to: preparation, implementation and facilitation of various programs and activities for youth ages 13-18 and adults, both within church life and in the local community. To create and facilitate weekly youth outreach programs, build mentoring relationships and connections with youth. To assist with administration, program preparation, event planning and implementation. To work with and lead volunteers and provide oversight to activities in the community.
