Job Description
We currently have a part-time preschool teacher position available for our Church Preschool. Church: Abundant Life Worship Centre Facility: DISCOVERY KIDS PRESCHOOL. We are looking for someone who is dedicated, energetic, dynamic, and crafty, but most of all LOVES working with children.
Part time position: 14-21 hours/week
Salary: From $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Job Description:
• Ensuring you are adhering to the regulations of the Early Learning and Child Care Licencing Act and Regulations at all times.
• Be accountable for the delivery of a well-planned academic, social-emotional and physical education program.
• Ensure best practices in early childhood education and new, innovative ways of teaching.
• Prepare and present the materials in an organized, exciting way that will promote curiosity and a love of learning.
• Adapt to children’s needs and prepare different options for children to learn and grow.
• Spark imagination, build self-esteem and help children discover new things each day.
• Guide children in self-motivated learning, helping stimulate their natural desire to learn.
• Promote Christian values through lessons and games.
• Support all Children with their emotional, physical and behavioral needs daily.
• Work with children individually or in small groups to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies.
• Set up and take-down of equipment/themes as required.
• Changing of classroom themes: decorations.
• Select, store, clean, order, issue and inventory classroom equipment, materials and supplies.
• Participate in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss their children’s progress and needs.
• Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees inside and outside of the preschool.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, policies and administrative regulations.
• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
• Follow directions given by the Program coordinator.
• Effective communication skills and strong organizational skills are essential.
• Other duties as needed.
Required Skills
Qualifications:
• Must have current First-Aid/CPR Certificate
• Must have current criminal record check (or willing to obtain)
• Have a strong understanding of child development and behavior
• Excellent communication skills
• Be very organized
• Have good computer skills
• Have strong leadership & problem-solving skills and a strong ability to multi-task
• Must look & present self in a professional manner

Education Required
Early Childhood Educator Level 2 or related field.
Experience Required
• 1+ year experience working in a teaching environment
