The Lead Pastor is responsible for leading the church body in functioning as a Christ-Centered Church. The Pastor is responsible for providing spiritual instruction and strategic leadership to the members, staff, and ministries of the church. The Pastor serves as the administrative officer and supervisor of church staff and the Administrative Business Council. The Pastor is not responsible for doing all the work, but for seeing that it is done and done properly (I Corinthians 14:40). Title: Lead Pastor Position: Full Time Location: Calgary, Alberta Ministry Purpose: To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, teach sound biblical doctrine, engage in pastoral care, provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life and function, supervise paid church staff, and conduct the ordinances and functions of worship. Serving Relationships: The Pastor serves under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Church Body. He directly receives counsel from the Servants Council who serve the congregation and help administer the wisdom of Christ. The Pastor serves as the Chairman of the Administrative Business Council (Stewardship Council).
Primary Functions: • Plan and conduct worship services, develop sermons, plan with music leadership, and leads in the observance of ordinances. • Leads the congregation in programs to fulfill the Great Commission with vision, purpose, and priority. • Leads and demonstrates effective ways to witness and win the lost to salvation through Jesus Christ. • Visits and ministers to members and prospective members in homes, nursing care facilities, and hospitals. • Conducts counseling sessions, performs baptisms, baby dedications, wedding ceremonies and conducts funeral services. • Works with Church Corporate Officers, Servants Council, and other key leadership to carry out the mission and purpose of the church. • Acts as a parliamentarian to the moderator in business conferences. • Cooperates with associational, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern. • Serves as Overseer/ director to ordained and lay staff and lay volunteers, and leads, evaluates, and mentors existing staff in their respective areas of ministry • Providing leadership to the pastoral staff in the design and implementation of all church ministries • Serves to recommend and advise committees and teams as an ex-officio member. • Oversees, along with Servants Council, all church discipline matters and the management of conflict issues in the church. • Maintaining efficient and effective lines of communication between the staff and elders. • Communicates with the congregation through articles or announcements, written and spoken using church newsletter, bulletins, and worship services. • Gives full support biblically to the Undesignated Budget of the church. • Adheres to the Church Bylaws and Policies and Procedures adopted by the church. • Maintains a vital and wholesome personal relationship with the Lord through daily Bible study and prayer. • Maintains proper priorities at home with personal spiritual discipline and honoring family life.
• Bachelors Degree from Credited Bible College
• 3-4 Years Pastoral Experience • PAOC Credentials is an Asset
