Job Description

The Children’s Ministry Director, working under the Lead Pastor, oversees the creative and administrative tasks associated with the children’s ministry at Soul Sanctuary (“Soul”). The Children’s Ministry Director takes on the responsibility of guarding the spiritual culture and character of the children’s ministry and those involved in the ministry. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week salaried position. • Execute children’s programming that reflects Soul’s vision, mission and culture • Oversee the Soul Kids programming for Grade 1-5 students, including Sunday morning Gatherings, Friday program and the MEGA Kids Summer Camp • Provide guidance to the Early Years Ministry Director as required, overseeing that department should that position be vacant (infant-Kindergarten age children) • Recruit, lead and manage volunteers involved in the children’s ministry at Soul • Ensure that Plan to Protect policies are being instituted to standard in all children’s ministry areas • Ensure that Soul is providing a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our children • Develop, communicate and enforce policies pertinent to our Children’s Ministry areas • Screen and train volunteers per Soul’s policies • Pastoral care for the Soul Community – building relationships and providing pastoral support to children, parents and family units • Plan and execute outreach events for children/families • Facilitate outreach events and workshops for parents/families • Administration tasks corresponding to the children’s ministry, including scheduling • Have consistent communication with team leaders and ministry members • Plan and implement Children’s Ministry projects and department goals • Responsible for maintaining the department budget, purchasing all curriculum and supplies • Be an integral member of the Soul Staff team and the life of the community • All other duties as assigned

• A love for Children and building their relationship with God • Has a desire for excellence for the glory of God in the work that they produce • Passion to dream and re-imagine what Children’s Ministry can look like • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively • Ability to learn and use Planning Centre Online software • A team player who works effectively with the staff and ministry team • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills • Agreement with the fundamental values of Soul Sanctuary • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Experience Required

• Prior Children’s Ministry or related work an asset
