Job Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT: The role of the Assistant Pastor (Student Ministries) is to support current and future ministry effectiveness within the Kanata campus. This will require a passion for students and families both in our church and in our city. This role requires a strong team dynamic, a firm grasp of the culture and vision of Lifecentre, as well as a strong leadership gift that encourages, equips, and empowers leaders and teams in growing together with Jesus to make a difference in our city. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: • Possess Christ-like, servant attitude • Devoted to the call of God and the vision/mission/strategic approach of Lifecentre • Has a passion for Jesus, people and our city • Self-motivated, leader and team builder • Able to communicate vision with passion, clarity and enthusiasm • Forward thinker with an imaginative flair, aware of current trends, and leading tools SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: • Able to initiate, execute and manage effective systems that better communicate to people • Able to mobilize teams in order to accomplish a mission • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects/systems simultaneously • Results-focused leadership with persuasive interpersonal skills adaptable to a variety of personalities and situations • Professional in speech, conduct and presentation, worthy of representing Lifecentre well in all organizational and city-wide interactions • Able to manage budgets for maximum impact • Is currently (or willing to become) a member of Lifecentre • Holds credentials (or willing to work towards) with PAOC or OBFF RESPONSIBILITIES: As Lifecentre continues to grow and plant new campuses, extending our reach, there is an increasing need for an Assistant Pastor who will continue to provide leadership to our weekly student ministry, along with assisting in some general pastoral duties relating to the Kanata Campus. The Assistant Pastor’s main focus of responsibilities include: 1. Model Biblical Priorities Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Lifecentre. The Assistant Pastor (AP) should represent a growing personal relationship with Jesus. The AP models a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable). The AP strives to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships and actions. These objectives are accomplished by: • Committing to a daily quiet-time with God • Participating in a Lifecentre small group on a regular basis • Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity • Developing personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church • Modelling servanthood and generosity through time, talent and treasure • Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of Lifecentre employees, as defined by the Lifestyle Manual 2. Lead and Pastor LifeStudent Environments (70%) Responsible for building upon, leading, and pastoring all LifeStudents environments and experiences, from grades six to twelve, with a goal to reach as many students as possible. This will require a firm grasp on Lifecentre’s mission, vision, and values, as well as the ability to work in a team dynamic with staff, student leaders, and adult volunteers. This includes but not limited to: • Leading all aspects of Jr High and Sr High ministry at our Kanata location • Creating engaging environments for both Jr and Sr High Students that inspire them to Experience Life, Live in Community, Discover their Purpose, and Make a Difference • Ensuring our approach is Jesus-Centred and Guest Aware in all environments and experiences • Envisioning and mobilizing a leadership team • Pastoring students through seasons of life, helping them draw strength from Gods word • Demonstrating organizational skills and in ministry initiatives, implementation, and resource management • Connect and collaborate with the Generations Team across each campus to promote unity in content, curriculum, creativity and culture. 3. Give Pastoral Support to Lifecentre (30%) Responsible for providing pastoral care and ministry by contributing their unique spiritual gifts and personality to advance the mission and vision at our Kanata Campus. • Assist in developing strategies and ideas and content for our services and various ministries • Serve on the Teaching Team as required or requested. This includes Sundays, Bible School, Conferences, and Training Events • Assist with timely and effective Pastoral Care. This includes, but not limited to: weddings, funerals, visitations and baby dedications • Assist the Campus Pastor as needed with responsibilities that strengthen the campus and church organization
