Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:
o Oversee preparation and implementation of programs
o Provide supervision of budget , administration and maintaining of the office
o Provide spiritual and practical ministry which would include overseeing chapel services and bibles studies as well as providing counselling and/ or appropriate referrals
o In consultation with the Board , manage the recruitment , interviewing, training , supervision and evaluating of staff and volunteers
o Establish and maintain job descriptions for staff and volunteers and assign required tasks
o Management of disciplinary situations that may arise with staff , volunteers or patrons
o Communicate problems , ideas , incidents or positive occurrences to the Board and to staff by meeting regularly
o Communicate up to date and necessary information to staff and volunteers ( ie program changes , Emergency and Health Safety Protocals)
o Track administrative functions such as accounts , statistics , filed reports and ordering of supplies
o Be involved in Mission fund-raising initiatives
o Sit on committees that involve the ministry of the Mission
o Network with community partners that would include churches , businesses , local government , community agencies and individuals

Reports to : The Board / Chair of the Elgin Street Mission
Position Summary:
The Chaplain / Director plans , organizes and directs all activities of the Elgin Street Mission including meeting specific goals and carrying out the Mission vision statement outlined by the board of directors.
The Chaplain/ Director serves to manage and support the secretary , book keeper , treasurer , kitchen staff and the board of directors in the business functions of the Mission.
