Ministry Location: Cambodia/Thailand, Southeast Asia
Ministry Focus: The Laings are based in Phnom Penh where Gary serves as Field Director. He teaches at Cambodia Bible Institute and serves on the CBI executive. He is on track to launch an urban church plant, targeting unreached people in Phnom Penh’s emerging middle and upper class. Both Gary and Bev are involved in mentoring next generation college graduates and national church planters. Bev is the Director of the Impact School of Missions, a four week on-the-field intensive missions course for young adults. In January and September, Bev and Gary move to Bangkok to oversee, teach and mentor at the school. ISM provides students the opportunity to learn, then experience through internship, a slice of a Southeast Asian global worker’s life.
Ministry History: After 25 years of pastoring, Gary pursued a MTh to be able to teach and equip the next generation for ministry. Being asked to consider teaching overseas opened the door for Gary and Bev to pray about overseas missions. As Gary had traveled to Cambodia previously on a mission trip, they pursued ministry there. From 2007 to 2011, Gary and Bev served as the first PAOC global workers in this Buddhist nation. At that time Gary taught at the Cambodia Bible Institute and Bev oversaw ChildCarePlus, worked with girls rescued from the sex trade, and was involved in occasional medical missions to small villages. In January 2015, they returned to Cambodia where they serve in their current capacities.
- For wisdom, anointing and strategy as we launch the church plant in 2017.
- That ISM will be a place of growth for students and a conduit for future global workers.
