How old are you? That’s probably a question you get asked a lot. Sometimes we view our age as a limit to what we can do. We might say, “I can do that when I’m older,” or “I’m too young to do that yet.” Sometimes in our churches and children groups, we see the adults and teenagers as the ones who are leading, doing the worship, praying, or teaching from the Bible. Did you know that you can do that too? Here in Cambodia through ChildCARE Plus, we are teaching our children that God has given them a very important job to do. They are to be like Jesus everywhere they go, and to show others how to have a relationship with Him through their words and actions…through their very lives!
Line has been a CCP kid for three years now. She loves the Lord and has a passion for her village to know God too. How does she do this? Each week, under a stilt-wooden house, she leads a small group. They sing songs and study the Bible together. How old is she? 12! She is 12 years old and leading a small group in her village. God is using her to reach her friends and neighbours. She is not too young. Will you pray for Line, that her village and other villages throughout Cambodia will come to know the one true God and follow Him?
Another one of our kids in Cambodia that is making an impact is Sophey. Sophey has been a CCP kid for two years now. She is part of a family of six. They don’t have much, and her parents have very little work. Her mom stays home with her younger siblings, and as a job, she takes care of a neighbours baby as well. Sophey has also been learning that God loves and cares for them very much and wants them to follow God in everything they do. Besides, God is the one true God! One day the baby lost one of her small gold earrings. The mom was so upset and scared because she was afraid that the neighbors would accuse her of stealing the earring for herself and she would lose her job. They looked everywhere and couldn’t find it. So Sophey took her mother by the hand and asked her to trust in God and God would help them. “OK,” her mother said, “I will follow you.” So Sophey and her mom held hands and prayed that God would help them find the earring. Later in the day, they started looking for the earring again, and the mom found it in a place where she knew she already looked. God did a miracle! Since that time, Sophey’s mom has been coming to church regularly and wants to know more about the “God who listens.” How old is Sophey? She is six years old! Could you pray for Sophey, that her family will also follow God and watch Him continue to do miracles in their lives?
We know that God loves us and we know that He wants us, more than anything, to follow Him with all of our hearts. He wants us to be like Him. No matter how old you are, your words and actions can point people to Jesus. You can also point people to God and show them how to follow and serve Him. Our CCP kids are not too young, and neither are you! What will you do today to point others to God? I ask you, “How old are you?”
