Everyday Encouragement from Peter and Patricia DeWit in France
The other day I (Peter) was coming back home from a difficult conversation and feeling quite low. I woke up asking God to somehow show me a sign that he was looking over our lives; that he was somehow at work. I couldn’t wait to get to the gym and do some heavy lifting!
My good friend who manages the place looked so low. I asked him what was going on. He said in English, “I am so painful.” And he shared with me a recent personal struggle. He knows of my faith. We’ve chatted a few times about it. He’s even been to one of our Parties with a Purpose.
So I was moved to ask if I could pray for him then and there. We grabbed hands and as I prayed he began to sob in my chest not caring about who came by. After saying amen, I felt like I could say to him, “It’s going to work out, you’ll see!”
Fast-forward to yesterday, four or five days later I went to lift again. My friend was at the welcome counter, his face filled with joy. I knew something positive must have happened. And he told me, “Something has changed in my situation. I am so happy. It is working out, thank you for your encouragement.” We actually shared some Reese’s Peanut Butter cups together and we chuckled as I told him this is our communion bread!
Sometimes we all need an embrace, a word of encouragement, a positive prayer of faith that lifts us up. My friend’s opening of his heart to me on the very morning after my hard conversation once again confirmed to me that the Lord knows our struggles. He sees and he cares for us.
Patricia and I thank you for your encouragements as we continually ask God to lead us in a land not our own.
Continue to pray for doors of opportunity to serve Him in Paris, Europe and beyond.
