Ministry Focus: A 4th year student at the University of Waterloo, Wesley will be spending 8 months in Cambodia partnering with Global Workers Ian & Tiffanie Rowley. His primary responsibilities will be at the Global Student Centre: a dormitory, church, and community that is home to about 100 university students. There, he will intentionally build relationships and disciple students, while supporting English/music classes, many small groups, sports ministries, and other programs of interest organized by the centre. His work will develop students into leaders, equipped to share the gospel of Christ as they return to their home communities to plant churches.
Wesley will also be supporting the ChildCARE Plus ministry, a sponsorship program that supports over 550 children across 12 communities. The program provides children and their families the medical support, food security, education, and exposure to the transformative power of the gospel that enables them to break the generational cycle of poverty.
Ministry History: Wesley’s desire is for university students to experience a personal relationship with Christ, through which their God given passions, skills, and talents are developed and purposed to transform the world around them. This passion stems from the selfless investment of others over the course of his life. Various mentors and church communities have shown him the incredible power of intentional relationship building and the effectiveness of accessible and culturally relevant church communities. They have taught him the life-transforming power of the gospel and grown his desire to share it. His participation in student ministries have shown him the importance of fellowship and have provided an opportunity to live out an evangelistic faith. In the same way that God has used others to inspire and equip Wesley for ministry, he hopes to invest in those within his sphere of influence. He is excited for this next season as he continually seeks to live out his life motto: To do whatever God asks of him, whenever He asks, and wherever He tells him to go!
For humility - a heart that seeks only to give God the glory and praise.
For protection - from distractions and spiritual attacks as he prepares. That the strength of Christ would be made perfect through his weaknesses.
For wisdom - to learn, adapt, and serve effectively in a foreign culture.
For patience - to wait on God to lead, guide, and to move.
