Location: London, UK
Ministry Focus: Jonathan and Tara will be serving as part of the Watoto Team and their role is to give regional leadership across the United Kingdom to advance the cause of Watoto and raise awareness and support for the ministry. They share a common goal which is to see some of the world’s most marginalized in Africa empowered as leaders for the glory of God.
Watoto is a church in Kampala, Uganda under the leadership of Gary and Marilyn Skinner. Watoto has placed thousands of orphans in families, empowered vulnerable women to reach their communities, rescued babies and former child soldiers, and sent children’s choirs across six continents. Our mission in the UK so to advance this mandate for the most vulnerable.
As Watoto works alongside the most vulnerable in African society, our aim is to rescue individuals and raise each one as a leader in their sphere of life so that, in turn, they will rebuild the nation. Jonathan and Tara have a passion to see Jesus made famous throughout the United Kingdom and around the world. They believe that each Christian has an important role to play right where they are planted.
Ministry History: Jonathan and Tara were Lead Pastors at Peace Tower Church in Ottawa, Ontario for five years and part of the pastoral team for a total of 14 years. Jonathan has served as a Marketplace Chaplain, providing spiritual care in a secular environment. Over the years he has served in numerous PAOC district and national boards and guiding groups. Tara has spent her married life serving alongside Jonathan in church ministry. Before being appointed to serve Watoto she worked as a Parliamentary Affairs Advisor in both the Senate of Canada and House of Commons.
