Ministry Focus: Phil and Shannon have been praying over a calling to missions for more than a decade. Following the birth of their youngest child in 2016, God began to open doors for them to serve in Cuba. They completed mid-term missions training in the Spring of 2019 and were approved as Global Volunteers. Phil and Shannon will depart for the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba in November. During this trip they will visit local churches and conduct meetings with regional leadership to discover current needs and how they can best serve the Cuban church. They hope this trip will be the beginning of what would ideally become a life-long relationship with the Cuban people.
Ministry History: Phil and Shannon became Christians shortly after their wedding in 2001. They started attending Cedarview Community Church in 2002, which has been the greatest influence in shaping their heart for missions. Through this church, Phil has participated in multiple mission trips over the years – including Cuba. Phil was given leadership over a new believers’ class for nine years, for which he created his own curriculum. Shannon serves in various children’s and prayer ministries, and provides leadership to a group of women who minister at a Teen Challenge Women’s Centre. Phil and Shannon have been blessed with seven beautiful children – Ella (15), Christopher (13), Grace (11), Nicole (9), Timothy (7), Samuel (5) and Lily (2). They look forward to serving the Cuban people as a family one day.
Prayer Requests:
- For the 7 children they are leaving behind and the friends caring for them
- Safety, protection, strength, favour and provision for the trip
- That God would equip them to serve the Cuban people
- For God's wisdom, clarity and calling to be made known for future missions
